Henry Moore Institute – Henry Moore Institute

Henry Moore Institute – Henry Moore Institute.
The trip to Henry Moore Institute in Leeds city centre to see Paul Neagu was a real treat.  The Palpable Sculpture exhibition was fascinating where Neagu demanded that sculpture be appreciated by all five senses.  Multi-sensory encounters were interesting but it was his drawings that intrigued me the most.  Bought the book to try and get my head around this complex character.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Went to see the poppies by Paul Cummins that were originally displayed at the Tower of London.  Wave looked beautiful cascading from the bridge at Yorkshire Sculpture park as the shadows reflected in the water.  The walk back to the main gallery was dotted with many iconic sculptures by Anthony Gormley, Sol Le Wit, Anthony Caro, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Thomas Price, Sophie Ryder, Ursula von Rydingsvard and Henry Moore.
Anthony Caro was the real star at the Longside Gallery.  Loved his late works he called ‘sculpitecture’ where interacting in a physical way with the sculpture is part of experiencing the work a fusion between architecture and sculpture.  I enjoyed the paper experiments that informed the large late works.
